Pro-Swage Die Free 224/243 Bullets Rimfire Jacket-maker

Pro-Swage Reloading Press Kit

ProSwage Information

The Pro-Swage Kit includes everything you need to swage lead or jacketed SWC style bullets for a given caliber. Supplies, lead wire, lubricant, core cutter, and bullet swage die with punches are included along with instructions. (Click here for prices)

The Pro-Swage system uses a special design of die that can adjust for a wide range of bullet weights: the same die can make .452 pistol slugs or paper-patch rifle slugs, for instance, with a weight range of from as little as 80 grains to as much as 500 grains in the same die. The Pro-Swage die fits into a standard reloading press (7/8-14 threads) using regular RCBS type shell holder slot. No shell holder is required: the punch snaps into the ram slot. Calibers as large as .58 Minie can be swaged.

There are several styles of Pro-Swage kits:

  • Paper-patch Rifle Bullets
    • Internal punch = cup base
    • External punch = 1-E
    • Supplies = 70,000 grain spool of lead wire, Swage Lube.
    • Accessories = core cutter.
  • Jacketed SWC-style Handgun Bullets
    • Internal punch = flat base
    • External punch = Keith, 3/4-E, Conical, AL, TWC or BWC nose

  • Base Guard (TM) Bullets
    • Internal punch = Base Guard design.
    • External punch (rifle calibers) = 1-E
    • External punch (handgun calibers) = Keith, 3/4-E, Conical,AL, TWC or BWC nose

    • Accessories = core cutter
  • Minie Ball Bullets

All kits may be ordered with the optional precision weight adjusting punch (PUNCH-RW), which lets you set the exact volume of lead for the bullet and extrudes any surplus as a thin wire or thread of lead, which you can then snip off the end of the cylinder with nail clippers. Otherwise, simply cut the lead wire to an exact length to provide weight control.

If you have a good supply of soft lead and wish to use it with your melting pot and ladle to cast your own lead cores, you can get the CM-4a Adjustable Core Mold. The core molds are available for all calibers. Each mold has four cavities, and all adjust to any reasonable weight. The mold mounts on the bench and does not require separate handles. The core production rate with a mold is around 1,000 cores per hour.
Pro-1-R Pellet Swage All you need is your standard, single-station reloading press such as an RCBS Rockchucker, Pacific Multi-Power, or other sturdy slotted ram, 7/8-14 thread press. Start saving money right away by making your own precision swaged bullets. You have Corbin available for support and information whenever you need it. Note: if you wish to make three or more calibers, you should consider a Corbin Swage Press and LSWC-1 dies to fit it, because you may save money by going this way even though a press would be required. The cost of LSWC-1 type dies is less than the Pro-Swage style, since many of the Pro-Swage functions are built into Corbin presses, reducing the complexity and cost of the dies which are made to fit them. The price of the press is usually saved by buying three or more calibers in the LSWC-1 style instead of Pro-Swage dies. If you need two or less calibers, then using Pro-Swage with your existing reloading press will prove more economical than purchasing the faster Corbin Swage Press and dies.

You can make 3/4-jacketed SWC style bullets in any of the PRO-SWAGE dies. Order the jacket diameter and length you want, and insert lead wire that is small enough to fit inside the jacket. This may be a smaller diameter than is recommended for lead bullets. For instance, a .452 jacketed pistol bullet may require a .390 lead wire, but a .452 lead bullet could use a .430 size wire. To determine the wire size for a given caliber and length for a given weight, click here

Please specify the actual diameter of bullet you desire, not the caliber of the gun, because the diameter may be different depending on whether or not you want paper patched bullets. For instance, a "45" caliber swage could be .458 for a lubed bullet, a .448 for a paper patched bullet, or a .452 for a 3/4-jacketed handgun 45 bullet. We need to know the actual bullet diameter, not the final size after paper patching, since that can vary with the thickness of the paper that you choose.
To put lube grooves on the lead bullet, get the Corbin HCT-2 knurling tool (diamond pattern), or the HCT-3 grooving tool (two grooves applied at a time). Either tool can handle from .17 to .720 caliber in two ranges (.172 to 458 and .375 to .720), by changing the position of a pivot pin.

Corbin Moly Spray Lube applys an instant-drying film of brown-colored surface lubricant which can be used in addition to a conventional grease lube (with lube grooves) for blackpowder, or by itself for smokeless powder. Dry surface lubes do little or nothing to soften blackpowder fouling, and are for use with smokeless loads. Grease wads and "nitro" wads can be made quickly using a special Corbin Disk Cutter tool, which can turn ordinary felt upholstry padding into soft wads, or hard cardboard sheet into nitro wads. This is the DCD-1-S, DCD-1-H, or DCD-1-R (depending on whether it is used in the S-Press, Corbin Hydro or Mega Mite press, or a standard Reloading press).
